What Marble doesn't do.

Trades come into Marble from a file or by hand. It has no live link to your broker, so if you want trades to appear on their own, a paid journal may suit you better.

Three things to check.
Before you pick a free journal.

  • The capA limit on trades or accounts bites as soon as you run more than one account, and prop traders often do. Check the limit against a busy month, not a quiet one.
  • The way inCheck whether importing your platform's file is free, or only typing trades by hand. Some journals keep the import on a paid plan.
  • The way outCheck you can take your whole record with you. In Marble, one zip holds your data, a spreadsheet of your trades and every photo.

What's free in Marble.
All of it.

  • The Desk and your total P&LOne total P&L by day, week, month, all time or a range you set, then the running total, the month's calendar, your numbers, latest trades, each account, and payouts against fees.
  • Logging a tradeA trade logged in seconds, with the sums done for you.
  • Journal and calendarEvery trade in one place, and a calendar with what each day made or lost.
  • ImportsBring your history in from the file your platform exports.
  • SetupsYour setups live in Study: a chapter each, with its record from your journal.
  • StatsWhere your money is made and lost: by day, hour, setup, symbol and account.
  • Ask your journalPick a question about your trading; it reads your journal and answers in numbers.
  • StudyOne giant notepad. The video sits at the top, your chart images go in with it, and you write underneath.
  • The FloorA live band, then every space in one place: the live home of traders who journal.
  • Private messages and sharing notesTalk one to one, and share your Study notes only with the people you choose.
  • CardsA card for every closed day and any trade, green or red.
  • Your data, privacy and securityYour journal is yours: private, never sold, and yours to take with you or delete.
  • On phone and desktopIn your browser on any screen, with nothing to install.

Straight answers.

Is there a completely free trading journal?

Yes. Marble is free forever with every feature in it, and there's no card, trial or plan to choose. Stonk Journal also has a free plan with no trade limit, and charges $10 a month for CSV import.

Is a free trading journal as good as a paid one?

It depends on what you'd be paying for. Paid journals often charge for live broker links and trade replay. If you're happy to import a file or log trades by hand, a free journal can hold your whole record.

Is a spreadsheet enough for a trading journal?

It can be, and it's free. A spreadsheet takes more upkeep: you build the formulas, the calendar and the stats yourself, and a prop account's rules and limits are yours to track by hand.

What should a free trading journal for prop firms include?

More than one account, your firm's rules, and what you've spent against what you've been paid. Marble holds the rules for 22 prop firms and shows your fees against your payouts, all free.

Will Marble stay free?

Yes. Marble is free forever, with every feature in it. If it ever closes, you'll get at least 60 days' notice and we'll email you your data, or a link to download it.

How does Marble make money?

It doesn't yet. We plan to earn from prop firm affiliate codes: if you use one of our codes at a firm, the firm pays us a commission. Using one is up to you, and your journal isn't for sale.
